Duties
The Program Steward plans and helps orchestrate themes, workshops and gatherings.
2007 Accomplishments
In 2007 themes were determined for each month. These themes were discussed in the monthly member's meetings and some workshops or activities were planned around the themes. Some examples of monthly themes were: Lavender, energy systems, water management, preserving and processing, structure and facilitation.
EcoReality saw very little turnout for the workshops, and some were postponed until the following year due to low interest, weather damage to lavender and such. The most successful programs were the weekly potlucks and movie nights, during which many newcomers participated in EcoReality, and many conversations moved the cooperative forward. Probably most importantly, the weekly potluck/movie nights served as a social gathering for the residents, visitors, potential new members to the cooperative and the local community.
Challenges
In 2007 not all of the members lived on site. Most of the groundwork and on site planning fell on the resident member's plates. The resident members were very busy and did not get the support from the non-resident members to execute many workshops.
Future Plans
By August 2008 the majority of members will live on site. Workshops and on site programs will be much more frequent and a more time can be spent on planning workshops by the program steward.
