Biodiesel oven
From EcoReality
I've had a biodiesel oven or kiln running through my head lately. I bartered the oil burner assembly from a furnace for some web work. Seems something useful should come of it!
So, first I need some firebrick. Arrange the firebrick into a box with one end open and with the bottom supported. Put another box of firebrick around it, with a chimney hole in the back. Insulate the whole thing. Put a door on the open end. Fire the oil gun at the floor of the oven.
The oil gun goes full blast, so temperature control would be by cycling the gun.
Perhaps at least some of the firebrick could be replaced by rammed earth foundation.
These oil furnace burners can be had free or cheaply when people convert to gas. If we could develop a relationship with a few HVAC installers, we could use this technology for any number of glass or metalworking kilns, too! Plus the darned things don't end up in a landfill.
But the real question is: how big a pizza do we want to build this thing for? :-)
