Need

For additional covered/sheltered area, not necessarily heatable.

Description

Extend the roof of the garage/classroom/barn building to the east to provide a carport covered area, suitable for parking farm equipment, storing biodiesel supplies, covering picnic tables, protecting bicycles, etc.

Pole-barn construction with an earthen floor will keep this project affordable. Incremental improvements, such as concrete floor and weatherproof/insulated sides, could be added as funds become available.

Status

  • 2010-09-27: With a new investor and imminent financing of the balance, this project has be restored to active status.

Goal or deliverable

A pole-barn-style carport, extending to the east from the existing garage/classroom/barn building.

Timeline, schedule, or end date

Complete and ready for operation for a 2011 Permaculture Design Course, to be used for "semi-indoor" activities during inclement weather.

To minimize labour and materials, this should be co-ordinated with the outdoor kitchen project, which will also involve roof work.

  • Bill of materials.
  • Scrounging.
