Need
An accurate way to account for common electricity usage.
Description
Currently (pun intended) the outbuildings run from breakers in the white house. This means that whomever lives in the white house is paying for electricity for the common water system, garage, classroom, and biodiesel processor. As an interim measure, EcoReality will be paying the first $65 of the White House electricity bill, but this is based on summer energy estimates for the outbuildings. With one or more watt-hour meters in series with the outbuildings, their electricity can be accurately subtracted from the white house's electric bill, and paid for in a fair and equitable manner.
Goal or deliverable
- Engineering:
- determine number of meters,
- two
- determine optimal location of meters,
- near the subpanel send, on the east corner of the white house
- assess materials on hand and come up with a bill of materials for purchase
- two meters and one socket are on-hand
- need one socket, 3 metres of #8 stranded copper wire, and misc strain relief hardware
- determine number of meters,
- Install one or more meters
- Determine and initiate usage procedure
- Issue shares for materials and labour
Timeline, schedule, or end date
Before winter 2008/09.
- Engineering: September '08
- Installation: October '08
- Administration and cut-over: 31 October '08
Plan
Financial budget
- about 150 Class B shares for materials on hand
- about $70 for materials needed
Labour budget
- Jan: engineering: 8 hours
- Carol: assembling materials: 1 hour
- Anyone: purchasing materials: 1 hour (not including ferry)
- Jan/James: holes in wall, mounting sockets: 2 hours
- Jan: hookup: 2 hours
