Electric vehicle

Electric vehicles are useful for short distances. Golf-cart-like vehicles may be used within the village and for agricultural hauling. Travel distances on-island are easily within range for most electric vehicles - we could probably do most round trips with a fairly light battery. Electric vehicles are now increasingly hybridized, so we could use available liquid fuels to extend the range should our village need that.

Pedal-electric vehicles take very little power, and use it in ways that liquid fuels can't match. We might choose our other vehicles according to the resources on our land.

The coming thing in electric vehicles is the lithium ion battery, which stores four times as much power per pound. Due to our short range requirements, we might get deals on lead-acid equipment, which can be endlessly recycled on a craft basis.
