Group Process Activity Brainstorm List
- Get To Know You Activities
- Perform the "colours" exercise [Colours], share results and discuss in group meeting or videoconference
- Interactive movement activities, for example partner-yoga, group-hugs, group-laughing, music-making, dancing (free form and leader style)
- Work parties: service to the community in particular, group meal preparation and cleanup, others?
- Hold heart to heart meetings that have a theme:
- e.g. What is your deepest fear about living in community?
- e.g. What personal traits are you aware of in yourself that you are working to transform, and how can you request support from group members to achieve your goals?
- e.g. What traits or behaviours about other group members are challenging for you to accept and how are you working to accept them and take responsibility for your own thoughts/emotions/actions rather than placing blame on others for their behaviours?
- Financial Perspectives
- Diana Leafe Christian's exercise for "storytelling" past experiences with finances by revealing the way finances were taught/managed in our childhoods/families of origin
- Goal: Sharing of individual past experiences helps to allow group to cultivate deeper understanding and compassion through group relationship and shared, common experience of "listening"
- May result in identifying significant diversity among group members, which can serve to teach the group where tensions might arise, or help to manage human resources, as well as financial resources, in the future
- Sharing circle (no recorder) for perceived financial fears/challenges
- Based on talking stick style, or round-robin style. Responses not expected/necessary. The goal is to bring group closer by allowing deep-seated issues to come to surface and group awareness, rather than a problem-solving session.
