Investment shares

Investment shares are the primary means of generating working capital in EcoReality Coop.

The Cooperative Association Act defines two types of shares in a coop:

  • Member shares must exist. Each member, not each member share, has a vote in general meetings.
  • Investment shares are optional. Investors have limited oversight or control over day-to-day operations, and really only have a say in matters of dissolution.

In EcoReality, investment shares are the primary means of distributing coop profit.
