Someone (probably you, from IP address $1) requested that we send you a new EcoReality login password.

The password for user "$2" is now "$3".

You should log in and change your password now, by going to:

       http://www.ecoreality.org/wiki/Special:Userlogin?wpName=$2&wpPassword=$3&returnto=Special:Preferences

After logging in with your new password, you'll be directed to your preferences page after a few seconds, where you can change your password to something more memorable.

First Timers!

While you're in Preferences, we recommend the following settings, especially for "Info Junkies":

• User data: check "Send me an email on page changes," which will cause you to get an email when pages on your "watchlist" change.
• User data: check "Send me an email when my user talk page is changed," which will allow your "User talk" page to serve as a notification mechanism.
• Skin: please leave this set to MonoBook, the default. Some features may no work with other skins.
• Time zone: press the "Fill in from browser" button to show local times for pages, changes, etc.
• Editing: check "Add pages you edit to your watchlist," In combination with the "User data" change (above), this will cause you to get email when pages you've edited are changed by someone else.
• Search: it is probably useful to check all the boxes *except* MediaWiki, MediaWiki talk, Test, and Test talk.

If you don't want to mess with any of that, that's fine, too, but you should at least change your password! The one emailed to you ("$3") will expire after a certain time period.

If this doesn't seem to be working for you, simply reply to this email describing your problem in detail, and we'll make things right!

What's next?

After you've changed your password and played with Preferences, you can browse the site using any of the links on the left:

• The "entry point" ones at the top tend to be important pages with lots of internal links in them.
• The "help" links go off-site, to the MediaWiki development site, where you can learn more about how this website works. This will be useful as you progress from merely reading pages, to editing or adding pages.
• The "external links" are interesting off-site resources to explore.
• The "search" box will show you all pages that have a word in it. If you press the "Go" button, it will go directly to the first page found.
• The "toolbox" links change, depending on the page you're on:
  • "What links here:" it can show you what other pages link to the one being shown
  • "Related changes:" lists recent changes to pages that are linked to the one being shown
  • "Upload file:" it allows you to upload pictures that you can later place on pages,
  • "Special pages:" enhanced access for finding information and page maintenance,
  • "Printable version:" provides a simple format, suitable for printing.

Finally, a reminder that you are on the Advisory Council mailing list. You can send email to "Advisory@EcoReality.com", and it will go to all the Advisory Council and members. Please try to keep it focused on EcoReality-related issues!
