A member is a member of the coop that holds the assets of the ecovillage. Membership in the coop, along with subscription to a certain number of investment shares, confers habitation rights in the ecovillage. A member may also be referred to as a villager.
One becomes a member by going through an application procedure, which is still being developed.
A member agrees to abide by the membership agreement in effect at the time of application, and as amended and changed from time to time by consensus among all members. A member further agrees to take part in community meetings and to keep up-to-date with changes to the membership agreement.
Members are entitled to take part in decision making on the business of the coop, such as ordinary resolutions and special resolutions, as defined by the BC Cooperative Association Act, as incorporated by our coop memorandum and coop rules, as amended from time to time.
Other roles of involvement include:
- Steward (statutory Director),
- Resident,
- Advisory Council member, and
- Observer.
It would be good if each and every Member was also a Steward.
