Biofuel Blast

You might be hearing a lot about biofuels in the media these days. Also, you may know that

EcoReality is still on track for on-site bio-diesel production. It is worth making the

distinction between the different types and sources of biofuels as our governments and

industry embark on "fossil fuel alternatives". Here is what the EcoReality Ecology Steward

has to say about it:

What exactly is a biofuel? Biofuels are liquid fuels derived from plants (typically the

common crop plants known as Soy and Corn). They are processed from the oils in plants to

produce either ethanol or a similar oil-based liquid substance that resembles diesel, a

fossil fuel. These "bio" fuels are being used in automobiles, farm equipment, generators,

private buses and jets, etc. On first glance, they seem to be an efficient use of Earth's

resources for civilization to transition into a fossil-fuel-free era. On closer inspection,

there is human mis-management of even these bio resources. -- for more see
