Who? 
General public — all are welcome! No notice needed, unless you want lunch (see below). Residents will prepare a work plan and have tools and materials ready.
Where? 
Outside the EcoReality classroom, 2172 Fulford-Ganges Road, Salt Spring Island, BC V8K 1Z7 (How to get to EcoReality.)
What? 
Finish planting garlic, harvest firewood, laundry room shelving, glean hay.
Food? 
Work for the full six hours, and we are happy to provide lunch. If you want lunch, please let us know in advance so we can prepare enough food. If you're working less than the full day, please bring your own lunch. Munchies and snacks to share are always welcome!
Bring? 
Boots, gloves, dirty clothes and whatever else you need for working outside. We have all of the tools necessary.

We realize that you are busy, and are working for free, but please understand that people arriving at various times throughout the day make it difficult for us to conduct the work party, and we ask that you try to arrive by 9:30 AM or 1 PM. Friday, 3 October 2008, Work party

When: 9:30 - 16:30 - Rain or shine. If the weather is really nasty we have a garage, shop and storage semi trailer to work in.

Who: residents, WWOOFers, interns, guests, neighbours and anyone else who wants to join in.

What: Tasks will vary depending on weather, priority, available skills and supervisors and the amount of hands there are that particular day. We typically decide tasks and supervisors the Tuesday morning before the work party at our residents meeting.

Lunch: If you work for the full 6 hours we are happy to provide lunch. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare enough food. If you're working less than the full day, please bring your own lunch.

What: Adam and Earthrising Foundation are doing promotion and generating awareness for their natural building project- An orphanage in Tanzania. This event is a fundraiser as well as a recruitment drive to get volunteers to go with them to help. Volunteers will raise money in their own community for the project. What: Living on Earth as if we wanted to stay is the theme of the talk. Mike Nickerson and his wife Donna Dillman present a talk and discussion about how the "Life" perspective, which says we need to preserve and enhance ecosystems and communities, conflicts with the "Money" perspective, which says we need to continuously expand production and consumption. Mike draws from his latest book, Life, Money & Illusion, which outlines new ways of organizing mutual provision (the economy) and a change in priorities that can lead to a long and joyous future. During this evening, Mike looks at the big picture, while Donna speaks to an 'on the ground' example of what needs changing. More information is available at their website.

Sunday, 29 June 2008: Work Party: Market-Prep 160 Sharp Road

When: 9:00 - 16:00 (work the whole day, and lunch is on us!)

Where: Old EcoReality office, 160 Sharp Road, Salt Spring Island.

Who: general public, drop-ins welcome!

What: Help make ecovillage history by aiding in getting 160 Sharp Road "sharp" for a tight housing market! There will be masking, wall-washing, patching, sanding, and maybe we'll even get around to painting! If your thumb is green, rather than off-white eggshell, join in cleaning up the "curb appeal" by trimming hedges, moving berms, re-fencing the garden, and general clean-up. And if neither of those appeal to you, you may be able to help pack up building materials, tools, etc. and possibly even help move a greenhouse. See you there!

When: 20:30 -- 21:30 (after the kids go to bed)

Where: EcoReality Lite office, 160 Sharp Road, Salt Spring Island, BC V8K 2P6 (How to get to EcoReality.)

Who: general public, please phone in advance (537-2024)(this # will be turned off as of June 1 and the new # will be 653-2024) so we have something for you to do.

What: Heart to Heart meeting. Format is talking stick circle meeting. If you have the talking stick you may speak about whatever you like, there is no speaking when you do not have the talking stick. The idea is for people to share their feelings freely, without rebuttal and comments.
