Save ripe fruit that has fallen to the ground. Take indoors to further ripen a week or two. Cut open and scoop out seeds. Put in jar with with water; ferment for at least five days. Scoop off scum and strain fallen seeds, rinse and dry. Seeds are storage-ready when they snap when broken. Viable 8-10 years. Or just keep ripe fruit in a jar over winter and put in the ground next spring.

Volunteer and self-propagate easily.

Direct sow after last frost. Does well in moist 8cc (3/4") soil blocks, pot up to 125cc (2") soil blocks in two weeks.

For perennial use, in late autumn once the fruiting period is over, lift the cucamelon's main radish like root and store in barely moist compost in a garage or shed over winter. Plant out again in early April to achieve early fruiting.
A close relative, M. pendulum, is said to be purgative when fully ripe.
