As part of our application procedure, we have a long "dating period" so that we can get to know each other better, typically, six months. This should be a significant period of involvement, not merely attending six monthly meetings!

After a person's application and share fee have been accepted, the provisional member has full rights of membership, but may not veto proposals, as described in our consensus decision making process.

During this time, either EcoReality Sustainable Land Use and Education Cooperative or the provisional member may terminate the provisional membership in writing. In such a case, the coop will redeem the provisional member's member share at par value, within thirty days. The member's investment shares (if any) will be redeemed within three years of the investor's request for redemption, per our co-op Rule #39.

If neither party terminates the provisional membership within six months, the provisional member gains veto rights and becomes a full member, and is subject to the full maximum redemption waiting period as stated in the coop rules on withdrawal or termination.
