Securing the premises

When you are the last person leaving EcoRealit for an extended period (more than a day or so), please use the following checklist:

Check all doors to make sure they are securely latched and locked.
Lock the garage and shop.
Empty and clean the compost bucket.
Clean dirty dishes and counters.
Please do not leave laundry in the washer or dryer.
Be sure all lights are out.
Ensure garden gates are closed and latched.
Pick up mail, or arrange to have it picked up or held.
Be sure animals have sufficient water and food and clean bedding/litter.
(Summer) Check windows and make sure they are closed and latched.
(Summer) Ensure irrigation is turned off.
- Arrange for someone to irrigate as needed.
(Winter) In all rooms with plumbing, leave thermostats no lower than 10 degrees.
(Winter) In rooms without plumbing, turn off thermostats.
(Winter) In rooms with sinks, open the sink cabinet to help protect against frozen pipes.
(Winter) Shut down the wood stoves.
