The production and saving of heritage varieties of plants is a key element of sustainable living. Because of the role EcoReality could play in the very much needed creation of seed sanctuaries all over the world, the ecovillage should lead the production and distribution of seeds.

Also there are very few species, because of market exigences, that are grown and sold commercially, while there are many many more crops all over the world that haven't made it to Canada yet.
