Somebody

From EcoReality

Somebody should do something about this!

Wouldn't the world be a better place if "somebody" or "someone" were formally defined as "me?"

Then, when "somebody" complains about something not getting accomplished, it would be interpreted by everyone else as volunteering to complete the task!

And remember, "somebody" is responsible for gossip. If, under the new definition, you tell someone else that "somebody" has a problem with how they're doing their job, it will be rather lovely and refreshing to have "somebody" come out and directly tell another person how they think the other person is doing, for a change, rather than pinning it on some anonymous source.

The next time you hear yourself thinking, "somebody," simply change that word into "I" before completing the thought!

Now let's imagine replacing the word "should" with "will." "Should" is so wishy-washy, so indeterminate. "Should" is a guilt-word; it seeks to impose "power over," rather than empowering from within, as "will" does.

Anonymous Guilt Autonomous Empowering
Someone should weed the tomatoes. I will weed the tomatoes.
Somebody told me they think you're not doing your job.  I don't think you're doing your job.
Someone left a big mess in the kitchen. I see there's a big mess in the kitchen.
